I'm writing a new review since my last review back in 2019 which was average at best. Now though... They've done some renovation work especially the open area roof top. Gone are the sail like canvas tarp and replaced by sturdier and functional design. Offering better protection from the elements. Food wise, it offers are better mix of your typical mamak fare, there's all day Malay (Penang) style cooking and Western Cafe menu too. Yes, there's your good ol' Roti Canai (Parotha/Paratha) and they also offer a twist, where the dough is made from wheat. Whenever I go there I have a few dishes in mind... (Rating 1-5 for overall taste, quality and price = Value) 1. Tandoori Chicken & Naan bread 5/5 (It's back!) 2. Soup Kambing 4/5 (They use lambchop parts) 3. Fried Chicken 4/5 (Well brined and golden fried in batter) 4. Chicken Chop 4.5/5 (Well breaded and deep fried to perfection) 5. Nasi Kandar 4/5 (I would've given 4.8 if their pricing can be "friendlier") 6. Nasi Goreng Series 4/5 (Customisable orders) 7. Roti Canai 4/5 (To get 5 perhaps somehow can be made fluffier, taste wise on point) 8. Thosai Ghee 4.5/5 (Well fermented rice batter.) 9. Appam 4/5 (For desert/snacks) 10. Cucur Udang 3.5/5 (It's usually prepared fresh and Crispy. I would've rated it higher if they're consistently good) Drinks though they have their standard mamak drink choices and even a coffee machine! The following are my "usual" orders along with their ratings:- 1. Cappucino 5/5 (Foam is silky and thick, Coffee bean almost perfectly brewed and because they serve in proper cups, brings me back to my days stationed in Rome, Italy) 2. Teh Ais Kurang Manis 3/5 (I'm used to the Chinese Kopitiam style Frothy & Kau Teh Tarik Ais) 3. Teh O' Ais Limau 4/5 (Because I need to watch my sugar intake) 4. Apple Ais Kosong 2/5 (Often times too watery, I only order it to wash my palette...if needed) Ambiance, it's awesome that they have those gigantic industrial helicopter like ceiling fan propellers. Making the alfresco seating area breezy. Sometimes too breezy. The seating at the outer most area (nearest to the streets) are favoured by smokers (Cigarette, Pipe & Cigar) only thing detracting from it is the drainage smell that wafts into the outer seating area every so often. The proprietor himself is almost helpless about it as next and above the restaurant is Giant Supermarket and at certain times of the day will flush out their "wet" affluent down the drain... which passes by the restaurant. Fortunately the smell rarely go past the 1st row of "outside" tables. When the smell becomes unbearable just move lah. So, I'm glad that this restaurant has improved much since my last review back in 2019. I patronise this place almost daily. Great place to meet neighbours and friends... parking is usually amply available, the service staff friendly and helpful as they humanly can. My mother who used to not like coming here has found this newly renovated place much more pleasant and have been returning every so often too... and that's saying a lot!
